What can I expect in a typical session?

You can expect to feel welcome and safe. You will be supported and guided by both the therapist and our equine partner throughout the session. Equine-assisted therapy is a nature-based therapeutic intervention, meaning your session will take place outdoors, with interactions involving horses.

We will begin by focusing on your therapeutic goals, and the therapist will work at a pace that you feel comfortable with during each session. You will be invited to engage at a level that feels safe and supportive. The therapist will introduce you to our therapeutic space and herd. Each session may involve activities like mindful grooming, observing the horses, leading them, or simply being present in their space.

For first-time clients, please allow an extra 30 minutes in addition to your 60-minute session. This extra time allows us to go over important information, gain your understanding, and clarify any concerns or questions.

Do I need horse experience?

No prior experience with horses is necessary. You will be accompanied by a professionally trained equine handler who will guide you through the process, ensuring that both you and the horses are kept safe.

Do I have to handle horses or be very close?

It is not mandatory to handle the horses or be in close proximity. We prioritise creating a secure environment that allows both humans and equines the freedom to move and express themselves. You are encouraged to engage in activities that feel comfortable, promoting a sense of autonomy for everyone involved.
